We start every morning at 7:30 a.m.: the first colleagues arrive and prepare our pediatric cardiology practice for the day ahead. Rooms are set up, equipment is checked and everything is lovingly prepared so that our young and old patients and their families feel that they are in good hands.
The first examinations and discussions with Dr. Schmidt and our medical colleagues* start at 8 a.m.inside. Since our move, our team has grown - and we are very happy about that! This means we can respond even better to the individual needs of our patients*.inside.
Registering our patients is a central part of the daily routine. Families register with us using their insurance card, referral slip and - if available - previous findings. They then usually proceed directly to the preliminary examination and subsequent cardiac ultrasound with our doctors.
Many things happen simultaneously at the registration desk: this is where emails are answered - from prescription requests and appointment inquiries to medical queries. We are in contact with the DHZC and other clinics and care centers, coordinate appointments, request findings and take care of everything that needs to be organized around the children's heart.
There's also a lot going on on the phone: just like the emails, it's about prescriptions, appointments or general concerns - we are often the first port of call for worries, questions and requests.
Our medical assistants (MFAs) also play an important role in the preparation of long-term ECGs: The devices are set up on the computer so that they can then be applied correctly. The ECG records heart activity over a 24-hour period - an important examination to detect possible cardiac arrhythmias.
Yes - sometimes it can be a bit busy at the registration desk. But thanks to a well-coordinated team and friendly cooperation, everyday life at the practice runs smoothly. And the most important thing: we are there for our patients with all our heart.
